ABOUT UNIVERSAL CONFEDERATION OF SREE NARAYANA GURU ORGANIZATIONS (SNGC), IT’S MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT
The Universal Confederation of Sree Narayana Guru Organizations (SNGC) owes its origin to the strong desire of the Guru’s devotees in India and abroad to forge a universal fellowship which will work for the welfare of humanity on a worldwide platform. Guru’s philosophy of Universal Brotherhood is the inspiration behind the organization. The SNGC is committed to work for the promotion of peace, harmony, equality and fraternity among all the human beings and propagate the teachings of the Guru through discussions, seminars, publications, educational, cultural, social and spiritual activities. The Confederation will coordinate the activities of various organizations working in the name of the Guru and help members set up new cultural, educational, spiritual and social welfare institutions in order to realize the vision of Sree Narayana Guru. SNGC will work tirelessly for the establishment of World Citizenship and Universal Brotherhood based on the Guru’s principle “One Caste, One religion and One God for Mankind”.
The SNGC‘s role is that of an apex body facilitating and coordinating the activities of Sree Narayana Guru organizations functioning for the betterment of society. The SNGC was set up as a Confederation on 30th September 2012 at Bhopal in an inaugural convention which was attended by eminent persons. Subsequent meetings at Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bhilai, Mumbai, Varkala Sivagiri and Shilong in the north east have strengthened the organization substantially. So far, the Confederation’s focus has been on organizations working outside Kerala.
From an initial strength of twenty organizations, the SNGC has now grown in size to a membership of fifty two organizations spread all over India. The member organizations include big and small organizations working in various parts of India. The office bearers of these organizations hail from various backgrounds and are doing useful work in various spheres of the society under the auspices of their organizations.
The fourth Annual General Body Meeting of the SNGC will be held at Sree Narayana Educational and Cultural Ssociety, Hyderabad on 1st and 2nd October 2016. A large number of important personalities from the spiritual, political and social spheres are expected to take part in the two day programme.
The initiatives taken by the SNGC Member Organizations are mostly in social service sectors like setting up and managing of educational institutions, hostels, cultural activities, organizing alliance meets (vivaha sangamam), pilgrimages etc. The largest among the SNGC organizations is the Sree Narayana Mandira Samiti, Mumbai, which has a membership of fifteen thousand. The second largest is the Shree Narayana Cultural Mission, Ahmedabad which has a membership of four thousand. Similar is the case with our member organizations viz. Shree Narayana Mission at Coimbatore and Bhilai who also have got sizeable membership. All these organizations have made their presence felt through very useful social work, particularly in the educational field. They have set up and are managing a number of educational institutions including colleges, technical institutions and schools where well over twenty thousand students are imparted high quality education.
The most obvious and immediate benefit of SNGC is availability of a network for communication as well as dissemination of information. This network will be useful not only to the members but also to the Pravasi Malayalees as a whole. We have been able to use this network for a number of useful purposes during the inception.
The SNGC is looking forward to expand its membership and activities in the coming days. The membership fee for joining the Federation is Rs.2000/- to be paid at the time joining. The Annual subscription varies from Rs.1000/- to Rs.5000/- depending of the membership strength of each organization. Each organization big or small will have one membership. The admission procedure is simple and all organizations functioning in the name of Sree Narayana Guru are eligible to join the SNGC. They have to apply in the prescribed format along with the membership fee which will be considered by the Governing Body.
